SPARK: Turning Mass Congestion Into Mass Collaboration was created in a Delphi (Aptiv) sponsored project with the Communication Design department at College for Creative Studies. Students in the class were directed to design user interfaces for fully autonomous vehicles for the year 2027.

Each team was assigned a demographic/region within the United States to research and design toward. My team was assigned the San Francisco bay area - an area known for having some of the worst congestion in the United States - with an average daily commute of 4 hours. Seeing as this area also contains Silicon Valley - an area known for innovation, start-ups, and technology - we designed an interface that would allow commuters to collaborate while commuting.

The interface uses Smart Glass technology that can be installed on the windows or on a tabletop within the vehicle. The UI is called Spark and allows users to participate in a variety collaborative brainstorming exercises. The interface also provides workspace for simple meetings or live-edit sessions. My role in the project was developing the concept and idea as well as creating the motion graphic video seen here to communicate how the smart glass would function. This video was played during our presentation to the client.

Fun Fact: The client chose our project/team as the winning design for the project!
